BENEFIT DANCE FOR CHICANO MUSEUM.
MUSEO GUADALUPE AZTLAN (HOUSTON) TAKES CORRIDOS TOUR TO GALLISTA GALLERY,
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS.


Who: Museo Guadalupe Aztlan is a museum founded in 1994 with the mission to promote indigenous folk art of the Americas, to include the Chicano(a)-Latino(a) community. The museum’s artists-in-residence to perform include Ildelfonso “Poncho” Martinez (bajo sexto). Another group under the label Los Pistoleros de Tejas will be represented by Roberto Rodriguez (accordion) and Leonel Rios (bajo sexto).

What: Newly-recorded corridos to tour include Chicano(a) icons such as Lydia Mendoza (singer); Gregorio Cortez (folk hero); Dolores Huerta (Co-founder of United Farmworkers’ Union; Reis Lopez Tijerina (land-rights activist); Rodolofo “Corky” Gonzalez (poet); and others, will be sung.

Where: Live music performance will take place at Gallista Gallery, 1913 So. Flores, San Antonio, TX 78223 (210.212.8606) from 7:00pm-10:00pm.

When/Time: Friday, February 19, 2010, 7:00pm -10:00pm. Admission is $10/single; $15 couple. DVD sales of corridos and cash bar; door prizes to be given.
